Their story

Overcrowded emergency rooms, rising healthcare costs, and the strain on traditional hospital systems have long created challenges in acute care. Many patients face unnecessary ER visits or long wait times, increasing costs and burdening the healthcare system.

Founded by ER physician Dr. Mark Prather and a team of experienced emergency medicine professionals, DispatchHealth was created to bring high-quality, hospital-level care directly into patients’ homes. By integrating clinical expertise with innovative logistics and technology, DispatchHealth provides a scalable, patient-centered alternative to emergency rooms.

In 2025, the Company merged with Medically Home which allows the combined organization to offer a full continuum of complex care—from same-day visits to extended recovery and inpatient, hospital-level care—all designed to meet people where they are and help them heal safely. The company’s model improves patient outcomes and satisfaction while reducing the overall cost of care, redefining how acute medical care is delivered.

Our partnership

We first met Mark when DispatchHealth had only launched in a single market. As we tracked DispatchHealth’s early progress, we saw the potential for its model to make home-based acute care a viable and scalable alternative. During our diligence, we saw early indications that this model could both drive considerable cost savings for the industry and improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Since our investment, we have supported DispatchHealth’s nationwide expansion, helping refine its service offerings and scale its operational model. We have also worked closely with the team to optimize its care delivery platform, improve patient engagement, and strengthen payer partnerships. In 2025, we assisted the company in its combined merger with Medically Home. Our collaboration continues to focus on making home-based acute care a cornerstone of modern healthcare, reducing reliance on emergency rooms while improving patient outcomes.
