Bicycle Health

Their story

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) affects millions of individuals across the U.S., yet 70% of those in need lack access to consistent, evidence-based treatment. Traditional in-person clinics struggle to meet demand due to long wait times, geographic barriers, and provider shortages, leaving many without care.

Founded in 2017, Bicycle Health set out to transform OUD treatment by leveraging telehealth to break down these barriers. Through its software-enabled model, the company delivers high-quality, accessible care that improves patient engagement, retention, and long-term recovery. To date, Bicycle Health has treated more than 40,000 patients nationwide, achieving retention rates that exceed those of top in-person treatment centers.

Recognized as a leader in addiction treatment, Bicycle Health was named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies (2022) and Fast Company’s Most Innovative Healthcare Companies (2023, 2024), underscoring its impact in reshaping OUD care.

Our partnership

The OUD epidemic is a major public health crisis that takes a savage human toll and creates over $1.0 trillion annual of economic burden on the U.S. economy. As the crisis soared, we continued to evaluate more efficient and effective ways to address its significant costs. Our investment was mission-driven, shaped by one of our partners — a physician who has treated OUD firsthand. We identified Bicycle Health as a leader in treating OUD after evaluating a variety of virtual and in-person models over a multi-year period based on their ability to drive superior clinical outcomes.

Since our initial investment, we have helped guide Bicycle Health’s transition from self-pay to insurance reimbursement, ensuring long-term scalability, and supported M&A opportunities to expand its reach. We have also helped recruit multiple senior executives, reinforcing the company’s leadership and positioning it for sustained success in behavioral health.
